The short version. HomeWallet collects nothing about you. It has no servers, no accounts and no adverts. Everything you type in is saved on your own phone and is never sent anywhere.
What we collect
Nothing. HomeWallet does not collect, transmit, sell or share any personal information. There is no sign-up, no email address, no phone number and no profile. We do not know who you are, and we have no way of finding out.
What stays on your phone
The accounts, entries, categories, limits, loans, deposits and goals you enter are stored in a database file inside the app's own private storage on your device. Android keeps that area private to the app. Nobody else — us included — can read it.
If you set a PIN, it is stored on the device too and checked on the device. It is never sent anywhere, and we cannot recover it for you if you forget it.
The internet
HomeWallet does not request the internet permission and makes no network requests. Exchange rates are the ones you type in yourself; the app does not fetch them. The app works exactly the same in aeroplane mode.
Permissions
HomeWallet asks for no runtime permissions at all. It does not use the camera, the microphone, your location, your contacts, your photos or your files.
Sharing your own data
The app has an export feature that writes your entries to a spreadsheet (CSV) file and hands it to Android's own share screen. What happens to that file after that is entirely your choice — you pick where it goes. The file is not sent to us and we never see it.
Deleting your data
Two ways, both entirely in your hands:
- More → Start again erases every record in the app.
- Uninstalling HomeWallet removes the database with it.
There is no copy anywhere else, so deletion is immediate and final. For the same reason, please export a backup file from time to time and keep it somewhere safe: if the phone is lost, the records are lost with it.
Children
HomeWallet is a household budgeting tool intended for adults. It is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, including children.
Third parties
HomeWallet contains no analytics, no advertising network, no crash reporting service and no tracking of any kind. Google Play itself collects some information when you install or update an app; that is covered by Google's own privacy policy, not by us.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date at the top. Since the app collects nothing, any change would be a clarification rather than a new use of your data.
